Women ranked 12th
The West Virginia University women’s soccer team moved up in all three national rankings this week after winning its Big East quarterfinal match on Sunday, advancing to the semifinals for the sixth time in program history. WVU owns a 14-4-1 record and checks in at No. 12 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas poll, 13th by Soccer Buzz and No. 20 in the latest Soccer America poll. The NSCAA/adidas poll released Tuesday is its final regular-season ranking. The Mountaineers also earned a No. 2 regional ranking in the Middle Atlantic region. Virginia, ranked seventh in the nation, is the top team in this region.
