WVU splits
The West Virginia University wrestling team split their two dual meets Sunday at Binghamton University in Vestal, N.Y. The Mountaineers dominated their first match against Sacred Heart, winning 37-3 over the Pioneers. However, WVU fell to No. 2-ranked Iowa State in the afternoon, losing 24-9 against the Cyclones. WVU was led by Chance Litton, Kurt Brenner and Jared Villers, with each winning both their bouts. “It was good for us to start our first meet and we wrestled well,” says coach Craig Turnbull. “We wrestled a very good team in Iowa State and three of our matches went down to the wire that we could have won, despite not having (Brandon) Rader.”
