WVU jumps to 15th in women’s hoops poll
The West Virginia University women’s basketball team (5-1) rose one spot to No. 15, garnering 494 points, in The Associated Press Top 25 poll on Monday.
Ranked No. 16 last week, WVU defeated American, 65-61, in opening- round action of the URI Invitational this past weekend. The Mountaineers then went on to defeat tournament host Rhode Island 80-47 to win the tournament.
West Virginia had fallen to No.
1 Tennessee in Charleston, 67-49, earlier in the week.
Four other Big East teams are ranked in the poll: No. 2 Connecticut, No. 5 Rutgers, No. 17 DePaul and No. 22 Notre
Dame.
