Man, things are fucked up in my world now. For the last few months my hospital has been negotiating to purchase one of the other hospitals in the area.. This hospital is on the North East end of town.. My hospital is on the west side of town where I live.
Well it was finaly a done deal this week. And the official plan is to completely close down my hospital as a hospital and use it as an ugent care center and to expand the psychiatric hospital that's already there. Which means IF i have a job through this merger, my job will be 20 miles away from where I live.
We'd also be responsible for occassional EEG at my current hospital, and occassional EEG services for Gulf Breeze Hospital, also 20 miles away from where I live. I know a lot of people drive distances to get to and from work, but I'm also resposible for taking call. I get a dollar an hour to carry the beeper, but I only get paid for time at the actual hospital.. Which is only time and a half. Sometimes I get called in more than once a day. And since I would be responsible for 3 facilities now, instead of the one.. I'm more than likely going to be called a lot. That is.. IF I have a job. The West Florida techs get paid FAR less and hour than I do As they are newer and West Florida also pays less..
I could go tomorrow to Sacred Heart Hospital and be hired immediately, However Sacred Heart is the Children's hospital. I do not have the temperment to deal with kids and babies all day and all night long. I can't stand to see sick kids.. I can't stand to see stupid, or abusive parents. I know this from my work at The Head Start Program.
I also have an option available to go to The Sleep Lab and work there. It's nights, I've never done that before. The perk there is that its still close to my home and it would be 3 12 hour shifts per week and 4 days off.
On another side note, Creepy Jim has been trying to weasle back into the inner sactions of our lab and I don't want him back there, and I have told him blountly, if you don't HAVE to be in there to guard the patient, then you can wait in the waiting room. I've told him repeatedly.. Yesterday he weaseled in there and spent 45 minutes 10 feet away from me just chit chatting with Alan, my co worker.
I can't explain just how aweful that man makes me feel.. I don't want to see him, or hear his voice. Or be reminded that he even exists.. But there he is, large and in charge of my sanity in the inner core of my lab and not the waiting room. I;ve seen him in the waiting rooms of ALL the other departments.. never back in the core of the departments.. Only mine.
I had had enough of it. So I told him to stay out of my lab unless it was absolutely necessary for him to be there.. ie a baker acted or unruly patient. Yesterday, it was a 13 year old kid and he was just as pleasant and cordial as he could be. Jim did NOT need to be there and yet he was.
Well Alan told me that I needed to be careful and that I might not be within my rights to restrict him access..
I am going on Monday to Human Resourses to make a formal request that he not be allowed back insinde my lab unless absolutely necessary.
Ugh.. Sorry for the vent..
Lots of things going on lately and I haven't been around much.. I'll try to get back to good soon..
