WVU women now 16th in hoops
The West Virginia University women’s basketball team (3-0) rose three spots to No. 16 on Monday, garnering 462 points in The Associated Press Top 25 poll.
Ranked No. 19 last week, WVU defeated St. Francis, Pa., 81-29, last Friday and Cornell, 93-52, on Sunday.
Four other Big East teams are ranked in the poll: No. 2 UConn, No. 7 Rutgers, No. 18 DePaul and No. 23 Notre Dame.
For her efforts in the first three games of the season, senior Olayinka Sanni was named to the Big East weekly honor roll. Sanni tallied two double-doubles and a 20-point effort in guiding WVU to a 3-0 start.
