When Big East associate commissioner John Paquette was asked about the rumors of TCU being invited into his league, he replied with silence.
On purpose.
"My silence," he said, "is my answer."
Later, Paquette expanded.
"We've never talked about individual schools when dealing with membership issues," he offered.
The issue surfaced via a New York Post article written by Lenn Robbins. According to Robbins, the Big East "is studying ways to bolster its position and has targeted TCU as a very attractive candidate."
Robbins quoted two sources, one that reportedly said the Mountain West school is among "a dozen or so schools that [the Big East is] looking at."
There was previous speculation TCU, currently ranked No. 5, would move to the Big 12 when that league lost Nebraska to the Big Ten and Colorado to the Pac-10.
Since the Post report surfaced, others have speculated TCU may be using a potential Big East invitation to gain entrance into either the Big 12 or Pac-10.
However, according to a Gazette source who asked to remain silent, the Big East expansion discussions aren't far enough along for an invitation to be issued.

TCU would be a great addition to the conference. I am beginning to think that WVU may be better served to leave the Big East and go somewhere else. We never seem to get respect and a possible move to another conference may be what we need.
