The Spurs have signed forward De'Sean Butler, who is still recovering from a knee injury sustained in West Virginia's loss to Duke in last year's NCAA semifinals.
The team said Friday that Butler will be placed on the inactive list while he continues rehabilitation on a torn ligament in his left knee.
Butler was a second-round pick by Miami last year and signed with the Heat on Aug. 30. He was waived two months later.
In four seasons at WVU, Butler averaged 14.4 points and 5.5 rebounds. He played in 107 wins, the most for one player in school history, and is third on the Mountaineers' all-time scoring list behind Jerry West and Rod Hundley.
