by From staff reports Charleston Daily Mail
ESPN reported that a fan had been struck by lightning in the upper decks of the stadium during a weather delay in the Coal Bowl, but Monongalia emergency dispatchers said they had no confirmation of a person struck and had not located a patient.
WVUToday, the campus news service, released a statement via Twitter saying "there had been no reports to authorities of fans injured/affected by lightning."
Just before the game was called off, ESPN removed the story from their news ticker and website.
Around 10:30 p.m., State Police Capt. James Merrill announced to gathered media that the original report was untrue.

What is suprisiing, or should I say not surprising about ESPN, is that there source was the WV State Police. Hearing that report I figured it was credible if that is where the story came from.
