I was reading some of the info coming out on Texas A & M leaving the Big 12 and heading to the SEC to be the 13th team in the conference when a tidbit caught my eye. Here is the article.......
Aggies Get Their SEC Invite By David Sandhop Aggie Websider Publisher Posted Sep 6, 2011
At tonight's SEC Presidents Meeting, early word filtering out from Atlanta indicates that Texas A&M received the sufficient votes to gain an invitation to join the Southeastern Conference effective 7/1/2012.
Sources at Texas A&M have indicated that a press conference will likely take place tomorrow following tonight's vote. It is expected that President R. Bowen Loftin will accept the invitation at the press event.
In other news, details are sketchy but sources also indicate that the SEC presidents gave SEC Commissioner Mike Slive the authority to negotiate with both Missouri and West Virginia to possibly be the fourteenth conference member.

I personally think it would be huge to get an invite from the SEC to join the conference. Got to admit the money isn't shabby. What do you think about the possibility of the Mountaineers joining the SEC?

I ain't skeerd of the SEC! I think the pros outweigh the cons. Like you said Elp the $$$ would be great. I think the level of recruits would increase immediately. A lot of the SEC teams are within a reasonable driving distance for fans, especially the ones in southern WV. After LSU, Florida, Bama and Auburn the conference really isn't that tough and we wouldn't be playing all of them every year. Also we could be near the top of the conference every year in basketball. On the down side we have a legitimate chance of a BCS bowl every year in the BE and could lose the rivalry with Pitt. As far as other options, I would be totally against joining the ACC, which there are rumors of that floating around too. I think that would be a lateral move at best. Obviously the big 12 is in trouble and I think the best thing that could happen is for OU to bolt for the PAC 12 and the BE bring in K State, OK State and Kansas, or even completely merge with the Big 12 to form a Super Conference. That would create an attractive league with probably a little less competition than the SEC. As long as we stay out of the ACC I can deal with anything. I think we have the right man leading our team and feel we can be competitive anywhere.
