I know it's way early, but we're in this kid's top 3. He's the #1 ranked 5 star WR by scout.
As we start profiling the class of 2009 you have to talk about one of the best wide receivers in the nation Logan Heastie. Arguably, the best pass catcher on the East coast. Heastie holds close to twenty offers and is focused on three schools right now.
Chesapeake (Va.) Great Bridge wide receiver Logan Heastie has picked up 18 offers to date with the most recent coming from Penn State. Heastie holds offers from the likes of Tennessee, Boston College, Florida, West Virginia, Alabama, LSU, North Carolina, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Rutgers, Oregon, North Carolina State, Connecticut and Maryland.
“Penn State just offered today (Thursday),” Heastie said. “I thought they’d wait a little longer, so I was kind of surprised. They haven’t been by the school yet, they just sent the scholarship there. I’m not sure which coach from there is recruiting me.”
Heastie plans on graduating early and the extra course load has prevented him from participating in any junior day events.
“I’m taking classes so I can graduate in December,” Heastie explained. “I transferred here from Salem, so I have to make up some classes. I am taking a full course load, so I can get it done.
“I have already visited a lot of the schools that have offered,” he said. “I have been to Tennessee, Virginia, Virginia Tech, North Carolina, NC State, Florida and Penn State. BC and Florida are one-two right now, but I also like West Virginia a lot.”
Heastie went into detail about each of his three favorites and why they standout to him.
“I really like West Virginia,” Heastie stated. “Coach (Chris) Beatty is from down here and has coached in the area for a number of years. Coach (Bill) Stewart has been to my school and he said they want to be able to throw the ball around. He feels that I have the ability to play early and I like that.
“Boston College is another school I really like,” he said. “I like Coach (Mike) Siravo and Coach Jags (Jeff Jagodzinski). They are straight with you about everything. There is no beating around the bush with them.
“I like everything about Florida,” Heastie explained. “The location, competition and the coaches are great. Coach (Urban) Meyer and Coach G. (Billy Gonzales) are on top of their game.”
As a junior, Heastie caught 53 passes for 977 yards and 16 touchdowns at Great Bridge. Heastie will participate in the New Level Athletics Passing Camp in Akron, which will be covered exclusively by Scout.com
