Depending on the point of view, this past week unfolded in a tale of conspiracy and anger, ambition and treachery, big business, rabid fans and a local boy who grew up to be a hero only to become a traitor.
The level of vitriol has surprised even Rodriguez, whose guilt and empathy are slowly turning into defiance. What irks him the most is a theory bubbling from the hollers to the Capitol to the campus bars in Morgantown. A theory that suggested he threw the Dec. 1 game against Pittsburgh — the school’s traditional season-ending rival — to avoid a berth in the national championship game. Pitt was a 2861/27-point underdog. If West Virginia had won, the school would have earned its first shot at a BCS title.
But if the school lost, the theory went, Rodriguez would be free to pursue the Michigan job, because no coach would walk away from a championship game.
“Maybe I shouldn’t feel so bad about their anger, because that just shows their ignorance,” Rodriguez said. “I’ve been” coaching “here seven years. If they don’t know me by now … ” And he stopped himself, stunned at the accusation.

No, our anger shows our passion as Mountaineer Fans. Our anger shows our hatred to traitors, our anger shows our love for our team.

Just a few VENTS from the Charleston Daily Mail, some I CAN agree with
* Why can't Gov. Manchin do his job and get more jobs for West Virginia like he said and stop worrying about the ball teams and coaches? I think the coach has the right to coach anywhere he wants. Why doesn't everyone leave him alone?
* Please, we've had enough of Rich Rodriguez. Give it a rest, please.
* Yes, Rich should pay the full amount for the buyout. He knew what it was when he tried to sneak out of town. Don't let some fancy agent-lawyer try to get him out of not paying West Virginia.
* Rich Ratriguez, you showed your true colors to WVU, their fans and the players that worked hard for you and are now on their way to Arizona without you. Does the phrase, "I'm committed for West Virginia University for a very, very long time," mean anything to you? Get out of West Virginia and don't ever come back.
* Please, WVU, pick anybody but Terry Bowden.
* A message about giving the former WVU coach a hard time: You're idiots. All of you. Let the man alone and let him get on with his life. Football is just a game and you're acting like a bunch of immature brats.
* Rich Rodriguez did the right thing. We live in a free enterprise country. He had the talent. He got the cash. Loyalty is for people who can't even beat Pitt.
* If the administration of WVU lets Rodriguez weasel out of the $4 million, then there ought to be someone else sent out of state right after him.

I actually do agree that The Gov should stay out of this..
He can support from the sidelines and fire up the top dollar boosters and he can even talk to the team, but he appears to be more involved than he should be.. He has a STATE to run.. not just a football team.

what's his name probably got more than enough from the ohio st boosters to cover his buyout for throwing the pitt game...
when the coaches in the booth are calling play after play to run and what's his name completely ignores them you jnow something is fishy...
