Were you aware that our Mightly Mountaineers didn't have representaion in Men's Track and Field, including cross country? I wasn't until this evening, and I am appauled! Especially since WVU Football AND WVU basketball have become so successful in recent years. These anchor sports are supposed to give funding to ALL WVU athletics endeavours. Apparently this isn't happening in our belved WVU. If you are equally as upset about this, please email the athletic department at WVU, E-mail Senator Byrd, and Email Governor Manchin. Voices can be heard.. if we all pull together!

It couldn't hurt!! From what I'm told there is still a chance that it could come back!! If the athletic department see that there is interest in Track they might bring it back and drop something else!! Look at the Rifle Team after people flooded the university and the capital with letters its back!!! I understand that a limited number of sports are allowed under Title 9 BUT TRACK!!!! Come on tell me that you don't know someone that ran track!! We are losing life long Mountaineer Fans do to a lack of a Track Team!! We are losing them to Marshall and other in state schools!! I don't want that!! This is an issue that someone needs to be made aware of!! We need to let the university know that we want Track back at WVU!!! We have the power to do that!!

The point is that Rifle is a coed sport. I agree with the reasoning behind Title IX, but unfortunately it has become a strictly 50-50 proposition, so every school has had to drop men's sports in order to comply. If you have a problem e-mail the NCAA, not WVU.
