I can't stomach cutting and pasting the article from scout but Boyd has decommited. Heastie says he's still solid but who knows. Early commits always make me feel uneasy anyhow. My take on the situation is the blatant lies of throwing the ball downfield that led to his decision. I'm preparing myself for more news like this coming over the next few months.

And it starts.................... Here is the whole story, I'm afraid more will come. Taj was the real deal. Tommy Bowden got the boot today...........We will have Stew for at least 3 more years, but if things don't improve I think Jeff "New King of the Bubble Screen" Mullen will be gone before next year's first game.

One of West Virginia’s top recruits has de-committed. According to Rivals.com Tajh Boyd has withdrawn his verbal commitment to WVU which he gave back in March during an unofficial visit. The Rivals’ report says that he made his decision too early and wants to see what else is out there for him. The Phoebus (Va.) High School star is considered one of the best high school quarterbacks in the country and as of three weeks ago he was considered a solid commitment. He told Metronews during a visit to Morgantown the weekend of the Marshall game that he was enamored with Morgantown and couldn’t wait to attend school at WVU.
Apparently things have changed.
“I’m not considering West Virginia anymore,” Boyd told Rivals. “I think it was best to make a clean break. I feel bad because I like coach [Bill] Stewart and coach [Chris] Beatty, but I have to do what’s best for me in the end. I have a great deal of respect for West Virginia, the coaches and the fans but I think I’m looking for an offense that fits my style a bit better.”
That style he’s looking for is more of a passing offense. The 6’1” 208-pound dual-threat quarterback will now take visits to Boston College and Tennessee which appear to be the new favorites to woo him. He is also being recruited by Oregon.

Makes a lot of sense. I have seen videos of this kid. He has all-around skills, but he is a better passer than runner. I'm sure the coaches told him they would be throwing the ball more, but the proof is in the product. Jarrett Brown is also a passer first, and he completed (I think) 13 passes for about 48 yards against one of the worst teams in the country. I don't blame Boyd at all.

What this kid doesnt understand is that IMO coaches will tell a kid things to get them to come to school where they are coaching and promise him things that they cant deliver on. He doesnt realize WV pride and how being a mopuntaineer is a honor.
