I have discussed this with several people, and they feel this could be the case. Read on:
Stew makes $800K/year... and has a $4mill buyout on his contract.
Ed Pastilong will be gone soon (PRAISE THE LORD!) and he probably put that in there knowing Stew will get shitcanned sometime after he leaves... therefore, Pastilong made some under the table deal to where he gets a chunk of that buyout.
I believe Stew was put in a position he was not ready for, and he probably knew he wasn't ready, but took the reigns anyway...
Make sense?

It makes sense and it's an interesting theory. We will see if this remains to be true or not. I read somewhere that people think Stew will be moved to the AD position when Eddie retires next year and Doc Holliday takes over as HC of football. I like the Doc Holliday angle, the rest of it, don't know about that.

Stew as AD! You have to be kidding!! Everybody on the ESPNU set laughed their ass off after Stew's press conference. He's a joke! A bad joke! Nobody takes him seriously. He would be a terrible negotiator.

I'm not sure I buy into the "Conspiracy Theory" about the AD job but I do believe that Doc is the Head Coach In Waiting. I'm not on board to fire Stew but I do think some changes need to be made. The main problem I have with Stew is that he's obviously not in charge and I'm not sure who is. He's said he's not a micro-manager and let's the staff run things but he needs to take the reigns and be the man. I can't stand to see him just standing around not even in the huddle during timeouts in crucial situations.
While we're discussing theories, I firmly believe that if Calvin Magee had not been beside Dick Rod when he took the UM job that he would have been the new head coach and our offense wouldn't have missed a beat.

Agree with you Smitee, if only Calvin hadn't burned that bridge on his own before hand and then the racial stuff. He probably won't be considered for anything at WVU again. I'm sure the UM fans don't hold Calvin in high regard after the way their offense struggled all season and of course their dismal record.
