Yes folks, by popular demand, Smurph's Smack will return for its second season to give that unique dissection of the weekly performance of our beloved Mountaineers. No punches pulled here. We tell it like it is. We are now just 12 victories away from a berth in the National Championship game. LET'S GOOOOOO MOUNTAINEERS !!!!!

Smurph, With the no punches pulled theme of this thread, I would like to lob to you the first question. Bill Stewart stated that he made 3 personnel changes in the kicking team to bolster the Eers pathetic first half coverage. Who were they?
Unlike many fans, I was glad to see that WVU won with a great performance by JBrown, NDevine, JSanders, and a pretty good O-Line. The D was a little slow and hesitant, but Liberty had a great playmaker in Mike Brown, which could have caused them some concern.
Overall, I saw only a few major problems, but lots of minor ones in their first game. The linebackers were great, and the secondary was strong. The line of scrimmage caused me some concern.
So who did Stewart replace in the special teams, and is the issue really personnel, or coaching?

"We made three personnel changes during the game and shut them down,'' said West Virginia coach Bill Stewart. "That means we're going to make even more personnel changes.''
Aload of horseshit. If you call kicking a popup KO to the 30-yd line and keeping them inside the own 40 shutting them down, you are hallucinating.
So who did Stewart replace in the special teams, and is the issue really personnel, or coaching?
He didn't say whom he replaced. The 3 news guys were Ryan Clarke, Shawn Alston, and Jordan Roberts. The issue is coaching. Always has been. Every long return against us the last 2 seasons has been right up the middle. The returner makes one move and is gone. The problem is we have too many defenders close to the sidelines "staying in their lanes" and not enough people in the middle of the field. He is obviously too stupid to figure it out. This will be Kill our team once again this season.

Stew's number one job, today, this week, is to FIRE HIMSELF as special teams coach, hire someone to handle that job. It's frickin' Tuesday, he should have done this Sunday morning after watching film. I don't even know what the f*cK Stew means in his statement that "we made personnel changes and then we shut them down and that means more personnel changes". WTF, is that Greek for "we suck at kickoff coverage, so we're just kicking it out of bounds".
