Marshall coach Doc Holliday has apparently wrenched a third recruit away from former employer West Virginia, as wide receiver Darius Millines of Boynton Beach, Fla., swung his allegiance to the Thundering Herd.
Millines joins fellow South Floridians Travis Bell of Belle Glade and wide receiver Fred Pickett of Pahokee, as Mountaineer commitments expected to follow Holliday to Huntington. National signing day is Feb. 3.
Listed at 5-foot-11 or 6-foot and 175-185 pounds by various recruiting services, Millines played at American Heritage School in nearby Delray Beach. He quarterbacked the Stallions to Florida's Class 1A championship, rushing for all four touchdowns in a 30-20 victory over Trinity Christian of Jacksonville.
He rushed for 18 touchdowns and passef for 11 more in an 11-3 season.
Millines is 16th on the Palm Beach Post's recruiting Big Board, nine spots behind Bell, a 6-2 defensive back, and three spots ahead of Pickett, a 5-9 receiver. Rivals lists him with three stars and ranks him 63rd at receiver; Scout lists him 56th, also with three stars.
That is the 10th reported commitment since Holliday took over as head coach, in addition to six who pledged to previous coach Mark Snyder. The apparent big catch so far is defensive back Brian Robertson of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., who gets four stars from Rivals.
