Homesick Johnson not with team Saturday
by Mike Casazza Charleston Daily Mail
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- Freshman quarterback Jeremy Johnson was not with the team Saturday for West Virginia's 49-10 win against UNLV.
Coach Bill Stewart said Johnson, from Kountze, Texas, is homesick and thinking about his future. Johnson left the team briefly in preseason practice for the same reason.
"He's done it before," Stewart said. "He's homesick. It's the same thing as camp."
Johnson dressed and traveled for the first four games of the season, but did not play. Ironically, he left the team before a game in which he might have played. Starter Geno Smith took a seat in the third quarter after his third touchdown pass gave the Mountaineers (4-1) a 42-10 lead.
Barry Brunetti, a freshman from Memphis, Tenn., entered for the second time this season.
"I don't know how to combat the mileage," Stewart said of the distance between Johnson and his home in the southeast corner of Texas. "That's what we're battling."

If he doesn't want to be here, he should leave. If you don't wanna be here, we don't want you here, either.
I can understand the freshman homesickness issue, but most people are saying it's "depth chart-sickness."

I agree. It sounds like he doesn't want to be the 3rd QB on the charts.
