Child pulled from pool
Girl, 2, resuscitated, taken to hospital

Two people resuscitated a 2-year-old girl Thursday after she was found on the bottom of a swimming pool.
The child, whose name was not available, was taken to Sacred Heart Hospital. Her condition was not available Thursday night.
The child went to the pool at Hunters Pointe Apartments on U.S. 98 with her aunt and another child, said Escambia Sheriff's Sgt. Stephen Schaff.
The girl apparently walked away as her aunt was putting sunscreen on the other child, Schaff said.
"Someone walked up to the aunt and asked her if she knew how to swim," he said. "That's when she realized she was at the bottom of the pool."
A man jumped into the pool to get the child, Schaff said.
Elizabeth Little, a Hunters Pointe resident, said she heard screams and looked out her patio door. She said she saw a woman holding a baby upside down not far from the pool.
"I took off running," she said. "Adrenaline kicked in. I ran over there barefoot."
The child was blue and unconscious, Little said.
Little began to help a man trying to revive the child.
Little breathed into the child's mouth, and the man did chest compressions, she said.
A crowd gathered as they tried to save the girl.
"She took a big breath," Little said of the 2-year-old. "She coughed, and then she was crying."

You are true heroes! Thank God you know CPR. Parents aren't given guidebooks, but I think every parent/guardian/caregiver should know the basics of first aid and CPR. You never know when it will come in handy.
Great job! I hope she wasn't unconscious so long that there was brain damage. I'll pray for the little girl.

As a local ER physician I must commend the person who did the CPR. Despite all that we can do in an emergency department, the first couple of minutes are the most important. This person saved her life or at least gave her more of a fighting chance than merely calling EMS and waiting several minutes. God bless you on a job well done.
