FORLI, Italy - Kevin Jones scored 24 points to lead West Virginia past Fulgor Libertas Forli 90-67 Friday evening on the Mountaineers' preseason basketball trip to Italy.
WVU outscored Forli 45-23 in the second half.
Jones was 11-of-16 from the floor, grabbed seven rebounds and was one of four Mountaineers to reach double figures in points. Darryl Bryant scored 15 points while Deniz Kilicli added 14 and pulled down seven boards and Keaton Miles netted 14.
"Obviously, I though we played a whole lot better," said WVU coach Bob Huggins. "They didn't speed us up the way we got sped up the other day defensively. I thought [Jones] was terrific and we were a lot better defensively."
Logan native Paul Williamson added six points for the Mountaineers, while Aaron Brown and Pat Forsythe each netted five, Kevin Noreen scored four and Tommie McCune rounded out the scoring with three.
Former Georgetown star Austin Freeman led Forli with 32 points.
West Virginia will conclude its Italy trip today with a game against Basket Sanarcangelo.
