The Mountaineers receive their first commitment in the 2013 recruiting class and they didn’t have to go too far to get it. MetroNews has learned Morgantown forward Nathan Adrian says he is going to play for Bob Huggins and WVU.
Adrian was on WVU’s campus this past weekend on an unofficial visit along with two other potential recruits. The Morgantown native helped lead the Mohigans to the West Virginia Class AAA state semi-finals as a sophomore. The 6-foot-8 forward is a 3-star prospect by many recruiting services. The future Mountaineer says he couldn't be happier.
"I've lived here since I was seven years old," Adrian told MetroNews during an interview at Morgantown High School. "I've been to almost every home basketball game and it's been my dream for the longest time."
During Adrian's unofficial visit he was offered a scholarship by WVU head coach Bob Huggins and assistant coach Larry Harrison. He says after that happen, his decision was a no brainer.

"I've worked hard. I've gone to tournaments, I've gone to camps, I've been to that Olympic trial [camp]. It's just been a lot of playing and a lot of experience," said the future Mountaineer.
One of the things Adrian says he's going to enjoy the most is having his family and friends in the stands for every single game. Plus, the fact that a future Hall of Fame head coach says he wants you to play for him is pretty exciting.
"He just told me he wanted me to come here. It doesn't take much from a guy like him," joked Adrian. "He's very important."
"It excites me a lot," continued Adrian about his future at WVU. "The freshman group that's coming in is real good and by the time I get there they'll all be juniors so we'll have a real good team."
Adrian still has two years of high school basketball left and even though he is anxious to play for West Virginia, he is just as excited to play for the Mohigans and try to help longtime MHS coach Tom Yester win his first state championship.
"It doesn't really bother me because I love playing in high school, I love playing with my friends."
