On Monday night the Mountaineer women’s basketball team completed it’s 2012 recruiting class with two of the top players in the nation. 5-foot-9 point guard Darius Faulk from Long Island, New York and 6-foot-2 forward Bria Holmes (pictured right) from Hamden, Connecticut.
The Mountaineers’ class now stands at five commitments. Faulk is considered the top basketball player in New York City and had offers from Kentucky, St. Johns and Virginia Tech. ESPN HoopGurlz ranks her as the 60th best prospect in the nation.
Holmes had offers from just about every school in the nation, but her top choices were WVU, St. Johns and Rutgers. She is a 4-star prospect by ESPN HoopGurlz and is ranked as the sixth best forward. Both Holmes and Faulk were in Morgantown this weekend on a visit and attended the LSU football game.
The duo joins Jennie Simms (Riverdale Baptist High School, Maryland), Lanay Montgomery (Academy of the Holy Cross, Maryland) and West Virginia native Mackenzie White (Scott) in the incoming recruiting class.
With the new commitments the Mountaineers now have three players ranked in the ESPN HoopGurlz Top 100 with Holmes (28) Faulk (60) and Simms (87).
