Alex Hammond has been named West Virginia's director of football operations.
Coach Dana Holgorsen announced Hammond's appointment Wednesday.
Hammond joined the Mountaineer football staff in July as recruiting coordinator and now will assume the program's administrative responsibilities.
Before coming to WVU, Hammond served as associate director of amateurism certification at the NCAA from 2009 through 2011.
Hammond replaces Mike Kerin, who retired in August.
