Woody O'Hara, part of what is still considered the most revered West Virginia University broadcast team ever, has died.
O'Hara, 70, died early Wednesday from complications following surgery last Friday in Morgantown.
Although he had a long broadcasting career otherwise, O'Hara was best known for his work as Jack Fleming's sidekick on WVU football and basketball radio broadcasts throughout the 1970s. He also did other work for the Mountaineer Sports Network, including hosting WVU-produced television shows.
A native of Winchester, Va., O'Hara was an outstanding high school athlete who was inducted into the Handley High School Hall of Fame in 1994. After graduating from Shenandoah College, he worked at radio stations in Charles Town and Montgomery before landing at WAJR in Morgantown and with MSN.
