MORGANTOWN - West Virginia University's football team jumped back into the Top 10 of both major football polls on Sunday.
Voters obviously were impressed after the Mountaineers had routed Syracuse 55-14 in the Carrier Dome on Saturday.
WVU went from 13th to No. 8 in The Associated Press rankings and from 12th to ninth in the USA Today poll.
Coach Rich Rodriguez's answer was predictable when asked what he thought about his team being returned to Top 10 status.
"I don't really care," he said.
Just two other teams from the Big East remain among the nation's Top 25.
The AP has South Florida (5-0) No. 5 and Cincinnati (6-0) No. 15. The Bulls are tied for fifth with Oklahoma in USA Today and the Bearcats are No. 17.
Rutgers (3-2), which lost to Cincinnati at home on Saturday night, dropped out of both Top 25 listings. The Scarlet Knights once were in the Top 10. They were No. 21 a week ago in both polls.
Rodriguez said he still thinks Rutgers is worthy of national ranking.
"The only one that matters is at the end of the year," he reiterated. "Rutgers has been playing for a month as a ranked team.
"As I've said before, the Big East is very, very strong."
