I'm not gonna rehash how Jeb Bush, Katherine Harris and other republicans destroyed the 2000 presidential vote in Florida, nor am I gonna bring up some of the dirty politics that disenfranchised tens of thousands of of african americans from being unfairly removed for the voting registry, and in order for these individuals to get back on the registry, there is more paperwork than buying a new house. What I am so ANGRY about now, is how Governor Crist has been dinking primary since he came into office. In his moment of brillance after coming into office, he decided that Florida was going to move up our primary from Aril, to January. Both the democratic and republican national conventons told Crist that if you move your primary up that far, we won't seat your delegates. He did it anyway.. Ironically enough, had our primary stayed in April, we would have made an impact, as its coming down to the wire for the democrats and we would have given Hillary Clinton our delegates. Hillary did win in this state, but I digress for a moment that tens of thousands of mainly black people that have been disenfranchised in the past 9 years. Coincidence, I'm not sure.. Back to the point.. Right before the VERY important Texas and Ohio primaries, Rush Limbaugh was actually encouraging Texas and Ohio republicans to cross party lines and to vote for Hillary Clinton and he was serious.. The rationalle, was that Obama was in the lead, but it was still a dog fight between Obama and Clinton.. Rush wants Obama and Clinton to fight with their millions in campaign donations and "bloody each other up" publiclly to divide further the democratic party.. The day that Rush Limbaugh pleaded this on his nationally syndicated radio show, our Governor Crist decided that the Florida delegates needed to be seated so we could make a difference. "even if they are democrats, their vote should count." This was about a month ago, and it was announced in the paper that a mail out ballot At FLORIDA tax payer expense will occur in JUNE. This may encourage Hillary to hang on, and fight longer with Obama further dividing the democratic party. Meanwhile McCain has already gotten the delegates needed for the republicans, so he can woo back that stubborn religiors right that has issues with him. Its not fair at all.. This is manipulation YET again from The Governors office of Florida that could directly impact the outcome of a third presidential election in a row.

See what I'm talking about:

MJ i can understand why you are upset For the record, I would be equally as appalled at the erosion of democracy even if my party were doing this. In the end, I think I am a constitutionalist and I believe in the right to free and fair elections. I HATE tv ads, it costs too much money and it NEVER gets to the heart of an issue.. As a matter of fact, I think that half of every campaign contribution should be funneled to reducing the debt, be it 5 dollars or 10,000 dollars. The amount of money spent to get someone elected president is INSANE!

Well, I have done volunteer work for Senator Obama for the last 11 months and I'm naive enough to believe in the things he is saying. To me the most important issue here is: If another Rebublican gets in office, he will make certain that the Supreme Court is incredibly unbalanced with a large majority of close-minded Neanderthals who will uphold the right of our government to continue to take away the rights of citizens. And with the youngest and least qualified Chief Justice in history, they will be in control for many years. If you think torture is Ok, Habeus Corpus and right-to-privacy are not necessary rights, a woman's right to abortion should be made a criminal act, then you probably disagree with my point of view.
Will freedom of the press be the next to go?

This is my thought!! 2 years ago we were told that if the Democrats got in to the congress and senate they would turn this country around!! Well in the last 2 years its got even worse than it was before!! None of them are worth their weight in salt!! I know Bush has veto power but the senate can do something about that!! The problem with DC is "Special Interest Groups"!!! They help line the pockets of the people in power!! No matter NRA, Big Oil, or anybody with a little money to give someone!! The thing is in this country your allowed to think what you want, vote how you want, and if you don't like the way it is find a way to make it better!! The Democratic Party just has not done this!! They were handed a election but now they can't even decide on a person to represent them!! In New York City they called 5,000 Democrats to ask if they candidate didn't make it would they vote for the other Democrat and the answer was NO!! That is the major problem with that party!!

Actually RL, The Dems do have only a VERY SLIGHT majority in both Houses.. To overturn a veto requires a 2/3s majority and even if every dem voted to over ride a veto, its still not enough.. One of the STUPIDIST vetos that Bush did this year was to veto funding for healthcare for kids of parents that are working, but can't afford insurance. These are the kids of the working poor.. I believe EVERY dem voted to over ride the veto.. but republicans weren't on board.
Kids get sick and if there is no other option to get them treated, parents will take them to the ER, and the ER has to see them and treat them at a MUCH more expensive cost than say going to a family doc. These parents can't pay for that bill that comes from the ER so the hospitals eat the cost, and everyone else is paying for higher and higher medical costs so the hospital can keep the doors open for everyone.
In essence, this one was really at the fault of the head cheeze and all the republicans that were indeed influenced by the heath insurance lobby.
The Democratic congress HAS been trying to get things done, but the republicans are filibustering, and even if a Democratic bill comes down the pike.. All Bush has to do is veto it and its dead in the water..

But the Democrats can't even agree on a bill for anything!! Neither can the Republicans !! When there is fighting all over NO WINS except the ones that are fighting!!
Hell hospitals eating bills has been happening for a long long long time!! Mary Kay worked in the billing office at Wetzel County Hospital!! She saw a lot of bills get taken on by the hospital!! She hasn't worked there since 1999!!! You wouldn't believe the number of hospital employees that have bill written off!! They don't pay for the insurance and have the hospital take care of the bills!!
I have another reason that this country is goig to hell but it has nothing to do with Dem/Rep!! I will not start a fire storm right now but the largest special interest group in the country needs to be watched!!!
I know that everyone has a opinion on this topic and I'm willing to listen to anything!! You have to have an open mind and be able to reason out what these quacks are saying!! I really don't care who you vote for as long as you vote!! I get so tired of people bitching about stuff and they didn't even vote!!! Now thats a waste!! Our troops have given us the chance to vote, don't disprespect are our vets who fought for our rights!!!!

RL
You and I agree on 3 things.. Special interest groups need to stop carrying so much levity with our elected officials, Veterens and active duty military deserve the BEST care possible and we ALL need to make ourselves educated to the issues and then to vote!
My eldest son Ryan just got his voter registration card and he's been watching local, state and national politics and he's formulated his opinions as I am sure he will continue to do. He's going to be eligible to vote in his first election come November, and He's revved up to go and excited for his first opportunity for the right and priveledge to cast a ballot..
If I had my druthers, there would be NO political campaign ads on the tv, just news coverage of the numerous town hall meetings that candidates attend.
Our government is broken, and neither party is really willing to fix the status quo.

Well I would agree with evrything you just said MJ. I would agree with Milkman that it is not a Republican-Democrat issue. However, here are 3 other things I believe. 1. Saying you are opposed to the war in Iraq DOES NOT mean you are not supportive of our troops overseas. This is an undispuable fact. 2. The current administration made the biggest political blunder in the history of our country by barraging us with lies so they could start a war 7000 miles away without the slightest idea of how to win this trillion dollar war (yes Democrats supported it so they are not without fault). In addition to an unwinnable war, these people also destroyed the admirable image of the U.S. in the eyes of the rest of the world. 3. This Repulican (conservative) administration has one-upped the supposed free-spending Democrats (liberals) by having more porkbarrel spending than at any time in history, aside from the trillion-plus dollars wasted on Dubya's war. And a deficit which would have been inconceivable even during Bush I's huge spending deficit.
