Dykes: We need to pressure QB

MORGANTOWN— Apply pressure on the quarterback!
“That’s what you want every game,” said Keilen Dykes, senior nose guard and leader of West Virginia University’s defensive line.
“We’ve got to prepare for Saturday’s game at Syracuse like we have for every game and just try to get pressure on the quarterback.”
Andrew Robinson, 6-3, 222-pound sophomore from Baltimore, has not thrown an interception in his last 104 attempts. Having had just one pickoff, SU is tied with Clemson, Kansas and Central Florida for No. 1 nationally in fewest interceptions.
“Well, you never know,” Dykes said. “He might be ready to throw another interception Saturday. We just have to get out there and do what we’ve got to do.”
WVU linebacker Marc Magro observed, “Robinson is a big, strong quarterback. He throws a lot of long balls.
“He moves around well for a young guy. He played a great game against Louisville (which SU upset in a a shocking 38-35 shootout).”
Dykes, who was named WVU defensive champion for last week’s South Florida contest, said he doesn’t have to say anything to motivate teammates.
“Guys have motivated themselves,” he said. “That’s the good thing about this defense and, basically, the whole team.
“We took a loss (21-13 at USF). But guys on this team bounce back. They will be ready to go.
“I will be ready, too.”
Coach Rich Rodriguez said, “Keilein Dykes is a great player. He does a tremendous job at the nose position.”
Dykes, who has been hampered by a foot sprain, said he was still a little sore after playing extensively against South Florida.
“But I just got done putting ice on the foot, so I’ll be all right,” he said.
