You are right that we as a conference are not getting the respect we deserve, but all we can do is win the games we have on the schedule and the rest will take care of itself. I honestly believe that we are stil in good shape for the NC as far as the polls goes. USC has to play OR EGON, UCLA, WASHINGTON, FL and LSU has a tough schedule and i think they play one another so that will take care of 1 of them, OK on the other hand has a fairly easy way. The worse cause is a 1 lose team loses by a narrow margin and are picked ahead of us.

its the 2nd week of the season and as long as we keep winning it will work itself out in the end. quote] I totally agree, but I still can't help getting pissed off at the ignorance and stupidity involved in the polls. The fact that Florida received (7) 1st place votes in the coaches poll just boggles my mind. Oklahoma beat the shit out of Miami. Here's a newsflash.....Miami is NOT that good of a team and even though we had a lackluster performance I really don't think that win warrants jumping us. Ohio state sucked against Akron and moved up but Wisconson sucked against UNLV and they drop two spots. Even though Wisconson is in the Big Ten they get screwed because they're not Ohio friggin State. All we hear about is the Big East's weak ass OOC schedule, yet we take out a top 20 SEC school AT HOME and get no respect. If Auburn wins that game all we would hear is how the BE can't hang with the big boys. IMO opinion there should be no preseason poll and the first poll shouldn't be released until after the 3rd week of the season. This would allow some time to see what teams really have and help prevent "overrating". Ummm let's see, Michigan comes to mind on that point. LSU has an excellent team but here's another newsflash.... Virginia Tech was wayyyyyyy overrated. OK, I'm done for now. So let's hope it all works out in the end, but I still can't ignore stupidity. BTW, can you use the "F" word on this board? It would have made this post much more colorful.....

I just got to see the poll and everyones response. I have to agree that I am very pissed off. I don't know how in the hell Florida recieved 7 number 1 votes. What the hell did they do to deserve that. The gave up 31 to Troy on Sat. Something needs to be done about these bullshit polls. I agree with smiteedawg that there should be no preseason poll. College football is the only sport where the champion is pretty much decided on opinion, and the only sport that puts so much into figuring out who is ranked what, everyone has only played 2 games except for usc who has only played one, but yet there are rankings. And the lack of respect given to the Big East is absolutely fucking ridiculus. When I got up Sunday morning for work, ESPN News was showing a report from the Gameday crew and they didn't even mention the fact that USF beat Aurburn. As much as everyone sucks SEC's ass they should rename the BCS to the SEC Championship Series. I would love to have Florida or another big SEC school on our schedule this year so we could shut everyone up. Ohhhh wait a minute didn't USF do beat a big SEC school, that's right they did, but no one seems to care.
Sorry for the rant but this is bullshit

Not that concerned about the new poll. Okie thrashed a team (Miami) that beat Marshall as bad (worse) as we did. No problem. Most teams will lose a game this year. We just have to go 12-0. I will, however, agree that if we dropped then the Badgers should have also dropped, and how can Va. Tech be rated #18 and USF is unranked? Haven't these people been watching the games?

Haven't these people been watching the games? I honestly don't think half of the voters do watch the games. How could they watch them all. They look at the teams name and a few stats, then they think, ohh well they are in the Big East so they should drop, and they are in the SEC (Shitty Eastern Conference), so they should be ahead of everyone.
