I agree, I just got me a 42" HD tv and it's GREAT!!!
I'm going to try and catch at least some of every bowl game.
Also I found the following, and since we're not to mention HIS name on our football thread, I'll just post it here.
I think it is very interesting!!
The inside scoop on Coach Rod's departure Dec 21, 2007 08:12 PM | 1560 views
I received this email from my brother late last Sunday night, and he received it from a friend of his who works within the WVU Administration. I am posting it now because I got a hold of the writer finally today and the writer said it was cool if I posted it.
This email makes light of the Coach Rod situation that transpired last weekend. It is a very interesting read and in my opinion, I believe every word of it. His friend, who I know, has no reason to lie...so you decide. It is pretty long, but definitely worth the read.
But, like everyone who says something in life...just take it with a grain a salt.
...here's a note from my buddy, who knows some people inside of WVU admin...pretty reliable source. It's long, but provides a good "inside scoop" of what transpired. Rod's dead to me:
"first of all, there is some background you guys need to know. last year when bama came calling, rod was using the bama leverage to get some promises he felt wvu needed to upgrade its program and be competetive with the top programs in the country. those were.... 1) facility upgrades- new academic center....upgraded locker rooms.....more suites for big money people.... 2) some travel stuff to make recruiting easier 3) a raise for himself and his assistants....
Rod had just received a small raise after the sugar bowl win, so his contract had just been reworked. when the bama thing happened, there was a mad rush by the powers to be to solicit money from big time donors to keep rod and to fulfill promises for all his demands. the big time donors (including the diamondbacks owner who is a wv boy) all came up with the money needed. many people dug DEEP to come up with this money in two days last year. all of this was done with the caveat that rod would be the coach here for a long time. promises were made and rod said the would be here until we wouldnt have him anymore....Gov manchin who has always been a huge rod supporter and was big in rallying the donors to cough up the cash. the deal was made and rod was staying....for the most part everyone was happy, but rod played hardball and expectations for results were raised. after the usf loss, pastilong was not happy. many "power" people were also upset. fast forward to the pitt loss.....the program misses out on one of the biggest opportunites in wvu history.....rod was in shambles....he is a very stubborn and egocentric person....he also does not appear to think things through....mich comes calling and rod's agent is pushing him to meet with them.....rod is now pissed that he is being held accountable for performance and apparently talking to mich would give him the credibility to say " Hey, i am still the man here, i am still wanted and back off". this became a power play....rod agrees to meet with mich ad and prez in toledo on friday....rod tells no one about this, and thinks no one will know about the meeting. it is now being thought that mich leaked this meeting....Two big time donors hit the roof and pastilong and manchin were furious....they met with rod on saturday and when rod told them about the offer, he was basically told that this was unacceptable and it all unraveled....apparently people close to rod were told that he was staying sat pm, but he painted himself into a corner with this power play and was forced to take the mich job......those people close to rod say he did not really want to leave, but screwed it all up by meeting with mich after so much was done the previous year.....basically he went all in for the 2nd straight year, and wv did not fold this time....basically rod screwed himself and the university over by being stupid......it has started to get ugly because of what rod did today.....#1 recruit Terrell Pryor was told by rod this am that he was going to mich.....this was even before he told the team at a 1:30 pm meeting......Pryor called a recruiting writer and informed him that Mich was now his top target.....pryor said that rod told him he was taking the mich job....the news broke even before he told his players.....the meeting was 10 minutes long where rod announced and told the players he was leaving and it was the administration's fault.....as you guys saw before a couple of players screamed at him.....it wasnt until an hour or so after the team meeting that a grad assistant delivered rod's resignation letter to pastilong.....HE NEVER TOLD THE SCHOOL HE WAS LEAVING UNTIL AFTER HE TOLD THE PLAYERS AND LET A GRAD ASST DO IT. Here is where it is getting surreal....he dated his resignation letter for jan 3rd- a day after the bowl game and expressed in the letter that he wanted to coach the team in the bowl game......his thinking is that if wvu wont allow it, they would have to fire him and lose out on the $4mil buyout....that aint going to happen....the AD will not allow this....they know that Mich will not allow him to stay here-they are expecting him to assemble his staff and recruit.......this all boils down to one man who let his ego screw him out of everything he dreamed of doing at wvu.......apparently rod is not the sharpest tool in the shed......
So, this year's recruiting class went from being top 5 in the country this year to a complete joke....we have already received four de-commitments and our top two targets - pryor and jenkins are now heading elsewhere- that is 6 recruits.....on friday night, wvu already started on a list of possible replacements....#1 target was jimbo fisher the OC for FSU and he was the OC for lsu's national championship a few years ago....he is a wv boy, but apparently has turned it down.....next up may be terry bowden, but pastilong is not a big fan of his....he has not coached in 9 years and knows nothing about the spread offense which our entire offense is built around and the type of players we have....other candidates are Doc Holliday the OC at Florida- former wvu coach, good recruiter but burned a bridge or two after leaving here by badmouthing wvu in recruiting.....some are saying rick trickett our line coach who left last year to go to FSU also.....he is rough around the edges and many think it wont happen...Bill Legg the OC at purdue where they run the spread under HC Joe Tiller- he coached here under nehlen from 95-00 and was OC the last year under nehlen where we beat eli manning and ole miss in the music city bowl. He also was an OL here from 81-85.he does not bring a "name" that recruits know....butch jones who left wvu last year to take the HC job at central michigan.....also, a no "name" guy......I will tell you this....we just dropped from being a major player in football and a top 5 program....our recruiting class will be a total bust, and to top it off, the dead period in recruiting started at midnight tonight....our new coach will not be allowed to recruit until it is over.....To be honest with you, we just took at least a 3-4 year step backwards....IMO, our only hope to maintain any chance of staying the clear #1 team in the BE is to win next year and let people know that we can succeed under a new coach without rodriguez.......i can think of no other scenario that would be worse than what just happened...."

I feel the same way, but the WVU admin filing suit against it's former coach does not paint the admin in a pretty way. To top it off, having the big donors come out and call the WVU admin names and saying they don't know how the run their business isn't going to make a head coach think this is a good place to be. I think it's getting worse.
