WVU to play four-game set vs. Valparaiso
The West Virginia University baseball team will play Valparaiso in a four-game series this weekend at Hawley Field.
Game one will be at 3 p.m.Friday. A doubleheader is set for 1 p.m. Saturday, with the fourth contest at 1 p.m. Sunday.
This is the first time the two schools have ever met.
WVU freshman Jedd Gyorko is off to a fast start, hitting .500. The second baseman has recorded three doubles and eight RBIs.
On the mound, the Mountaineers will likely look to senior left-handed pitcher Matt Yurish (0-1, 12.38 ERA), junior right-hander Josh Whitlock (2-0, 2.03 ERA), and right-hander freshman Jarryd Summers (0-2, 6.75 ERA).
WVU is off to a 6-3 start this season. Valparaiso is 2-6.
