NCAA BASEBALL Kuhn’s walk-off hit leads WVU to victory
West Virginia’s Chris Enourato had a walk-off single to right field to break a 7-7 in the bottom of the ninth inning and give the Mountaineers (3-2) an 8-7 victory over Western Carolina Friday in opening-day action of the Baseball at the Beach Tournament. Gyorko led the Mountaineers with two hits and three RBIs on the day. Kuhn finished with two hits, including a double, two runs and two RBIs, and Justin Parks tallied two hits and an RBI. The Mountaineers will play Marshall at noon Saturday before facing tournament host Coastal Carolina at 4 p.m.
NCAA GYMNASTICS WVU faces Pitt
The West Virginia University women’s gymnastics face old rival Pitt at 7 p.m. Saturday in a dual meet at Fitzgerald Field House. West Virginia has taken the last 12 meetings in the series and owns a 43-12-2 advantage all-time. The Mountaineers rank second in the EAGL conference and 28th nationally with a regional qualifying score (RQS) of 193.515.

WVU downs Marshall, 5-3
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Junior right-handed pitcher Josh Whitlock spread out three hits over 8.1 innings to lead West Virginia (4-2) to a 5-3 win over Marshall (2-4) in day two of the Baseball at the Beach Tournament. Whitlock (2-0) earned his second win of the season, facing 29 batters and holding Marshall hitless for three straight innings. He also finished with five strikeouts. The Mountaineer offense was led by junior Joe Agreste, who hit a key twoRBI double in the sixth inning. He finished with two hits, one run and two RBIs, and freshman Jedd Gyorko had three hits and scored a run. West Virginia finished with five runs on 10 hits and committed one error, while Marshall scored three runs on five hits. The Herd’s Dan Straily (0-1) was credited with the loss, pitching 5.2 innings and allowing five runs on seven hits. In the second game, Coastal Carolina scored six runs in the second inning en route to an 8-3 victory over West Virginia. Jed Gyorko led the Mountaineers with two hits, including a double and an RBI, and Vince Belnome finished with a team-high two RBIs. The Mountaineers will face George Mason in game four of the Baseball at the Beach Tournament at 11:30 a.m. today.

NCAA GYMNASTICS WVU tops Pitt Junior Mehgan Morris scored 39.1 points in the all-around as the West Virginia University women’s gymnastics team topped Pitt 194.025-191.975 Saturday night. The Mountaineers (11-7, 5-0) picked up their fifth straight conference win to remain unbeaten against EAGL opponents.

WVU BASEBALL Morrison’s gem keys Mountaineer victory
Sophomore Steve Morrison pitched eight strong innings in his first start of the season to lead West Virginia past George Mason, 4-1, Sunday at Watson Stadium in the Baseball at the Beach Tournament. Morrison (1-0) earned the win after giving up one run on five hits while striking out 10. The righthander retired 16 of his final 17 batters. WVU (5-3) hosts Duquesne Tuesday.
