WVU men meet Villanova in tourney The West Virginia University men’s soccer team (12-5-1, 7-3-1) plays host to Villanova (10-8-1, 55-1) in the first round of the Big East tournament at 7 p.m. today at Dick Dlesk Stadium. This is the schools’ 19th meeting between in the all-time series the Mountaineers lead by 11-8. The two squads last met in 2005, Villanova winning by 2-1. The two teams have not met in the postseason previously. The winner of Wednesday’s match will advance to the quarterfinals to face No. 2-seed Louisville. Last season, the Mountaineers advanced to the Big East championship game, but fell to St. John’s 1-0. This year’s tournament marks WVU’s sixth appearance in the conference tournament since it became a member in 1995.
