One of my favorite things my mom made when I was a little girl was her home made vegetable beef soup. It has a heavy tomatoey base, mixed veggies and tender roast beef.. She also baked bread for dunking.. It was my favorite food when I was growing up, and I make it for my kids and its THEIR favorite too..
When I make it, I make it by the gallons.. and its gone in 2 days.
What's yours?

When I was young, the thing I liked the best was my grandmother's homemade rolls and my mother made the best bread pudding.

Good question. I always loved my mom's cooking, no matter what it was. My favorite dish may have been her chicken and noodles. I now make them from time to time, though they are never quite as good.

My grandmother also made homemade rolls, and they were THE BEST. But my favorite was always pumpkin pie. I now bake the pumpkin pies for the holidays and the people I make them for appreciate them as much as I do.

Smurph, I have a GREAT Pumpkin Pie story..
Ever since my kids were WEEEE little, they loved pumpkin pie..
Pete and I have always kept birthday's low key necause my kids birthdays are in november and january and there is that Christmas thing in the middle.
So birthdays are usually just very simple here, but still very appreciated.. They get to pick what they want for dinner and what kind of birthday cake they want..
They get a pressie too but the dinner and the cake is the big deal..
Since they were little.. they wanted Pumpkin pie as their birthday cake..
Even now when they were given 16th birthday party bon fires, and their friends were over, I made tons of pumpkin pies.
