you young men got us a fine 10 and 2 record up to this point, not coach rod or not any other coach - they teach you what to do but it's you that are out on that field, playing your hearts out, getting the job done. enjoy christmas and your families and when you meet up in arizona to face a tough oklahoma team, have fun one more time. this game is your reward for your hard work and determination and making the whole state of west virginia proud of you. play your hearts out one more time and try to get one more w for yourselves and for your thousands upon thousands of fans. just remember, winning or losing the game is not that important, it's how you play the game and we all love you like sons and brothers regardless of the outcome of the game - you all are winners in the game of life.

Men, this is a new beginning. For you seniors, this is the first step into the rest of your life, whether it be on the field at the proffesional level or in the field of your degree that you've worked so hard to attain. For you underclassmen, this is a new beginning for West Virginia football. In two weeks you will be on a national stage for the whole country to see. A stage on which you will perform, a stage in which you will exit as winners. The coaches will write the script, but each and every one of you will bring the performance to life. You will show the country that you can overcome adversity, and you will silence the critics. You have earned the right to play this game and no one can take that away from you. All the world is indeed a stage, but you are not merely players. You are Mountaineers.

Gbetkemen, In you time while at WVU you have learned what it is to be a Mountaineer. One that faces adversity with a strong desire to succeed and the determination that hard working people have. Mountaineers have HEART and Loyalty to not only the great university but to the state of WV. With a 10 -2 record this year you have demostrated these characteristics. The people and the fans of WVU are behind you no matter what the outcome of this GAME is so lets go out there and show the Soooners who we are and theat is THE MOUNTAINEERS.
