The last few days have been tough and I'm tired of reading about betrayal, backstabbing, contract buyouts, recruits, coaching prospects etc... and I'm sure all of you are as well. Just for a couple of minutes I'd like to read about something pleasant. Please tell us about a fond memory. It can be a Christmas memory, your first puppy...it really doesn't matter.

Its also hard for me to find much positive these days....
I don't know if any of you remember me talking about the EEG's on plants to help with some high school kids projects about a month ago.. Alan and I did our own research one day and then a few Friday's ago Alan and I spent most of our afternoon with the kids doin test after test on plants with the kids..
We got a great thank you from them that day.. But today Dr A brought Alan and I huge gift baskets full of very fine chocolate. It was very unexpected and very much apprectiated.

one of my fondest memories happened 12 years ago when I was going through a divorce and the judge gave me full custody of my son who was 3 at the time - it was one of the happiest days of my life

Here's a Christmas story from way back when the kids were wee..
We were dirt poor.. Pete was at CUP full time working on his associates and had a work study job and I was working at Giant Eagle as a cashier opposite of Pete's schedule because we only had one car and I couldn't afford a baby sitter.. Anyways.. The university had screwed up Pete's Student Loans and Grants, and though the School was forgiving for his tuition, he still had to pay for his books and supplies out of pocket.. All we had managed to save for Christmas was used for these supplies and we were gonna use the student loan money for Christmas..
Time ticked by and the Bursur's office kept saying.. "we'll know something next week." We'll know something Friday... We'll know something next Tuesday.. We were freaking.. Its not like my kids would have had nothing for Christmas as my mother would never have stood for it.. And she spoiled the kids rotten anyways.. But to not have anything to put under the tree for your own kids was just a devastating idea..
One morning Pete was running out the door because he was late for class and he's NOT a morning person and he nearly tripped over this huge box that someone had sat on our front porch.. Inside the box were a TON of wrapped Christmas presants for my kids from "Santa". It turned out that all the people that worked with Pete in his work Study job got together and everyone bought a gift for each one of the boys..
Even though the student loan money FINALLY came at the 11th and a half hour, and we were able to do our own Christmas Shopping, I will never forget that selfless act of giving from people that really could NOT afford it either.
I learned.. Give when you can of your time or your resourses..

On Dec.2 of this year, I was driving down the road with my youngest step daughter and she recieves a text message from a friend of hers saying that she had been kicked out of her house for reason i still not aware of, however after talking with the rest of the family we decided to take this kid in until the first of year at least. I still dont know the true reason for her being kicked out but I dont care Its Christmas and I couldnt see a child(17 year old) out in the cold cause thats where she was living out of her boyfriends car for 2 nights before we took her in. The other day she told our family that she felt like she was apart of the family and felt at home with us. This made our family feel good like we had done a great deed.

Dennis,
What a GREAT thing your family did. Regardless of what anyone did, NO 17 year old deserves to be homeless.. I couldn't even imagine!

Thanks MJ I say she is staying until the first of the year anyhow that is to try to get her life back and there is no way that I would let her out in the cold especially during the holidays. AND ISNT THAT WHAT A MOUNTAINEER DOES when someone needs help they stand up and help those in need.
