WVU throttles Notre Dame, 11-6
MORGANTOWN — The West Virginia University baseball team had four consecutive two-run innings to defeat Notre Dame, 11-6, Saturday at Hawley Field. The victory snapped the Irish’s 11-game win streak. Junior Joe Agreste led the Mountaineer attack with a career-high four RBIs, three hits, including one home run. Sophomore Vince Belnome had two RBIs and two hits, while Tyler Kuhn and Austin Markel added three hits each. West Virginia (28-10, 8-6) rapped out a total of 15 hits, while Notre Dame (24-10-1, 11-3) collected 12 hits. Pitcher Steve Morrison (5-2) went 8.2 innings, allowing six runs on 10 hits, striking out five and walking five. Notre Dame’s Wade Korpi (5-2) took the loss. He allowed four runs on five hits and walked four in three innings.
