What a terrible weekend we just had... I dropped Dayton off at XC practice at 8 p.m. - his coach calls me at 8:20 and says Dayton is hurt and I need to come to the stadium....when I get there it looked like his knee was dislocated as his kneecap was pointing out to the right....by 9 I have him at Fairmont General where they put an iv in and give him some good drugs and xray his knee....it wasn't a dislocation but a broken femur so by midnight we're on our way to Ruby....there more drugs are given and more xrays are taken....then they pull and twist his leg and knee back in place and wrap it and take more xrays which shows it back in place....they schedule him for surgery Saturday to put a couple of pins in and put it in another cast. It went well as the personel at Ruby are the best (Mon General is also top-notched).....he (we) stayed overnight again until 1:30 this afternoon.
I feel sorry for Dayton as he was projected to make All State this year being ranked in the top 20....he has been training all summer running as much as 80 miles a week....the cast will be on 4-6 weeks and he's hoping he can get back in shape and compete before the season is over....an unlikely goal but something for him to work for
