In your life have you ever changed your religious beliefs?

Yes.. I was born and raised a free methodist.. About 10 years ago, I "converted" to paganism. Worhip of the sun and moon and wind and rain and trees and plants.. Not a bad venue.. really..
I guess the final straw to being done with christianty came when several someones told me that my mother went to hell because she hadn't set foot in a church or taken communion for at least 5 years prior to her death, though I don't know a better more kind and giving woman than was my mom.

I was brought up in a Baptist home. When my parents divorced I went to a local church that was Church of God denomination. A couple of years ago I was dating a girl who was Catholic and went to services with her. Not that I believe I am now a Catholic by any means but it was a very different experience.
Personally I believe we are what we have in our hearts. The 'Golden Rule' should be a corner stone of life. Treat others with the same love and respect we wish for ourselves. I think the lyrics from McCartney and Lennon say it quite well:
And in the end The love you take Is equal to the love you make.

I devote myself to my personal interests, as well as my family, friends and pets. I worry about the other stuff later.

I feel that organized religion is dying a slow death in this country. My family went to a Presbyterian Church when I was a kid, and the principles I learned there are still with me. As ELP said, the Golden Rule is a good place to start, and it guides me in every decision I make. The reason organized religion is dying in this country is the reason everything dies - Hypocrisy and greed. Let's hope those 2 things are not the downfall of our great country, though I certainly have my doubts at this point in time.
