JUST GOT TOBITCH AND GET IT OFF MY CHEST

This morning around 9AM my 18 year old step daughter had an accident and she rearended another vehicle. Luckily she wasnt hurt, the other driver said he has a stiff neck but refused medical treatment at the scene. The cars, I am assuming that my mustang is totaled for its a 1999 and both of the airbags deployed. It turns out that the other driver invlolved didnt have insurance, license, or a registration for the vehicle he was driving, the car belong to his girlfriend/wife. Anyhow I was glad and thankful that no one was seriously hurt.

Now my step daughter is to start her freshman year of college on monday. and I didnt want to see her use not having a car as an excuse for not going to school. I agreed to help out and buy her a 1500 dollar car as long as she got her own insurance policy. I would pay for the policy as long as she was in school but she wasnt going to be on my insurance.

So as the day went on this girl wasnt satisfied with a beater car and wanted us to buy her another car similar to a mustang and when we said no she started dropping the F bomb and saying alot of hurtful shit to my wife and called me a legally retarded adult. LOL. When she left the house she said and i quote " FUCK YOU i DONT WANT NOTHING TO DO WITH YOU OR FROM YOU."

So Amy and I did what a responsible adult should do, we called the insurance company and informed them of the accident which my the daughter didnt do. and while we had them on the phone cancelled her off our insurance. and then proceeded to close out her bank account that was attached to ours.

She did manage to get 660 dollars out of the account before we could do anything about it. OH well just money and I hope she uses it wisely.

Teenageers these ays seem to think the are entitled to whatever they want. Just my opinion and it may be influenced by a pissed off attitude i have right now. Sprry to ramble.

I have 19 and 18 year olds and I can tell you.. There are definate entitlement issues from both of them from time to time with my oldest especially.

I hope she comes to her senses soon and apologizes to you and your wife.

Yep, me too. I just went through an ordeal with my 19 year old son. Seems like the kids today think everything should just be given to them. I hope she comes to here senses soon. She will one day.

Kids these days suck. Trust me... you all are doing the right thing.

No question it is difficult. As MJ said, there is a sense of entitlement. Obviously it is hindsight, but somehow kids have to be taught that they get what they earn. My wife and I are committed to that notion for the twins. We live in an upscale area, which makes it even more difficult, because most parents just give their kids whatever they want, no questions asked.

Good luck with THAT Quest. My kids were totally OK with what we could provide for them until about Jr High School and keeping up with the Jones's was paramount.

To my children's credit, however.... They have approached me with what they wanna get their dad for Chrismas. They wanna buy him a new recliner.. I told them we could do that, but it would take sacrifice on their part.. No more.. Mom can I have 20 dollars for the Movies.. Mom can we get wattaburger for lunch.. And so far.. they are sticking to the plan so I can save some cash.
