I know not many people post here anymore, but, as far as I am concerned, it's enough people that post here that will read this.
I will be the first to say that I was NOT a Josh McDaniels fan after he traded away Jay Cutler, and nearly lost us Brandon Marshall. The only good thing I could say about our offseason is that we got an awesome defensive coordinator in Mike Nolan. We ate shit in the pre-season games, and it honestly had me worried that my football season was going to suck overall...
Sure, we beat the Bengals thanks to the Immaculate Deflection (added bonus was Gus Johnson giving birth on commentary), and ran over the Browniecakes, then beat the Raiders handily. At 3-0, I was convinced that we just played shitty teams so far. To me, Dallas was the first real test, although I know that Tony Romo has been stinking it up (have him on my Fantasy Team, benched him in favor of Big Ben. Steelers fans, keep it in your pants, please. ;D )
After rallying from a 10 point deficit to beat the Cowboys, we went to 4-0, and while I wasn't quick to say that I was a kool-aid drinker of McDaniels (although I was slowly but surely becoming a believer), I gave a lot of the credit to our defensive coordinator Mike Nolan, and being able to transition our guys into the 3-4 scheme, as opposed to the 4-3 scheme we ran under Shanahan. I looked at the schedule, and got nervous as I saw "New England."
New England vs. Denver: Teacher (Bill Belichick) vs. pupil (Josh McDaniels)... I knew if Denver could somehow, someway, pull out the victory then they would prove they are a legit team. This was the first time in a long time I got legitimately nervous over a Broncos game. I got nervous when the Patriots went up 17-7 at halftime... I have to admit, I was worried. But, we slowly chipped away at their lead, holding them scoreless in the 2nd, 3rd, AND 4th quarters... then Tom Brady kneeled the ball with only a few seconds to go...
We won the coin-toss, we marched that ball down the field, and nailed a field goal to win the game, 20-17!
I must admit, in my older years as a sports fan, I don't even remember getting emotional over a game... (yes, I admit it, I shed a tear) considering the turmoil-racked offseason we had...
I am now a believer in Coach Josh McDaniels... that's right, I am drinking the kool-aid (have to have something to wash down all that crow I had to eat...)
GO BRONCOS!!!
