Although only a junior, Dayton has gotten the interest from several D1 schools, leading the way for him is Wisconsin. From the Big East, Georgetown is up high on his list.
The choice would be so easy if only WVU still had a mens program.

FAIRMONT — No, Dayton McVicker didn’t earn All-America honors or add another first-place medal to his personal collection.
But his trip Greensboro, N.C., last Thursday for the New Balance Track and Field Nationals was still well worth it.
An upcoming senior distance runner at Fairmont Senior, McVicker finished 13th in the 5,000-meter run. Even better, his final time of 15:26 was a personal best in the event.
“I didn’t race like I wanted to, but it was a very fun experience,” McVicker, who was seeded in the fast heat and placed 11th, said. Two others from the slow heat ran faster times as well.
The majority of the runners ahead of McVicker were recruits from big-time Division I programs such as Florida and North Carolina.
“I was out there with the biggest of the big boys,” McVicker, who broke a state record in the 3,200 and placed fourth in the 1,600 at last month’s Class AAA state meet, said.
And while McVicker brought his hometown pride to the event, he also carried along another piece of the Mountain State. During the race, he wore a West Virginia University uniform given him to by East Fairmont graduate Jonathan Wright, who was a member of the Mountaineer men’s cross country team before the school eliminated the program.
Needless to say, McVicker was humbled by the gesture, along with the opportunity to compete against the nation’s best.
“He let me borrow his old WVU uniform for the race because I would love to run for WVU if they cared enough to keep the program. That was really cool because growing up I have always wanted to be a Mountaineer.”
