Former West Virginia and Seattle Seahawks fullback Owen Schmitt signed a contract with the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday, according to multiple sources.
Schmitt was a fifth-round pick by the Seahawks in 2008 and has caught 12 passes for 50 yards and a touchdown and run five times for 21 yards in his career. He beat out former Jets fullback Jason Davis, as both players tried out on Monday.
The Eagles original starting fullback, Leonard Weaver, was lost for the season on Sunday with a torn ACL.
