I'm goin' on a grand tour of the state of West Virginia for my spring break from WVU and I stopped at this lovely state park not far south of Berkeley Springs, WV. Actually this park quickly became of my favorites of the state. There are so many areas to go hiking and swimming in the small lakes its almost endless. The golf course is immense and breathtaking. There's quite a few cabins to stay at and plenty of places to go and pitch a tent, which is what I plan on doin' once it gets warmer. If any of you are in the Eastern Panhandle area, I definitely recommend a visit out here.. www.cacaponresort.com/

I have been there before but not for several years. I lived in the eastern panhandle for 15 plus years and i like this area of the state. However if you are looking for a state park that offers hiking and cabins visit Lost River in Hardy County. While in college i did an internship there and loved it.

Looks gorgeous Dan! I'll be getting homesick in a few months.. maybe I'll make this part of My trip. The eastern panhandle is quickly becoming my favorite part of the state, next to Pocahontas County. And I can see why mountaineerinpa lived here for 15+ years, because if I had the chance I would :-) I would love to do a summer internship at a place like Lost River, man that would be awesome! I suppose I can go to wvstateparks.com and look for something like that, right?

The only reason I dont lice there now is that I got married 7 years ago. I love my wofe and kids but damn I wish sometimes I wouldve stayed there. I came home from work one day last year and said, "I want to come home to Mountain Mama". My ex-fiance and I, fought and fought and eventually it was over. She wanted other things, I wanted multiple degrees from WVU in Morgantown. I gave the apartment away because it wasn't home, I left my job because I didn't want to be another statistic, and my family is right here in the Mountain state. But for me, I felt it was time for once that I can say that I have actually lived in WV. I may not live the rest of my life in WV, but it will always be home to me :-).

Now I live about 30 minutes away form Martinsburg and I can go there anytime I want to which is nice. Heck to have a great family and that is awesome!! Had I not been so far away in Alabama I might not have done what I had done, but driving 14=15 hours to WV just got old and I was sick of doing it. Plus, my ex didn't like WV either, I just forgot to mention that little detail ;D

Yep, my parents were in the military, been away from WV since 74 until this year. Me, I lived anywhere uncle sam told us to go, but always managed to go and visit WV.
Whenever an outsider said something negative about WV, I would probably diss them 2x back then burned their couch.
It's why I love this state so much, I have never been anywhere where people feel so proud about where they come from. West Virginians all over this country on the most part have this attitude of great pride towards this state and it's why I am proud myself to be a part of it. :-)
