HARTFORD, Conn. - Asya Bussie scored 16 points to lead No. 10 seed West Virginia to a 66-41 win over No. 15 Cincinnati Friday night in the opening round of the Big East women's basketball tournament.
The Mountaineers (23-8) limited the Bearcats to a 32.6 shooting and 6-of-25 (24 percent) on 3-pointers. WVU shot 47 percent and hit 5-of-14 from 3-point range.
Liz Repella added 15 points for the Mountaineers and Sarah Miles dished out 10 assists.
Bjonee Reaves led the Bearcats (9-20) with 11 points.
WVU will face No. 7 seed St. John's tonight at 6.
