It’s getting very close to decision time for West Virginia forward Kevin Jones. The junior has just two more days to decide if he will keep his name in contention for the NBA Draft, or withdraw and maintain another year of NCAA eligibility.
Thehoopsreport.com is reporting that Jones has been invited to participate in this weekend's NBA Draft Combine, which will be hosted by the New Jersey Nets franchise.
According to the site, Jones will be working out with the team on Sunday, May 8th, which also acts as the deadline for underclassmen to withdraw their name from the draft and return to school. Jones will have until midnight on Sunday to withdraw his name if he chooses to do so.
Jones averaged just over 13 points and 7.5 rebounds per game, but struggled shooting the ball at times this past season. Jonathan Givony of DraftExpress.com said in an interview with MetroNews that while Jones didn’t have the standout season he needed to make a splash in the draft, he made a smart move to test his prospects.
“There are a lot of players that have done that, come back and have had great seasons after that,” said Givony. “I don’t see it as a negative as long as he gets the correct information and he is fully aware of where he stands.”
