West Virginia University's Grant Buckner was named the Big East Conference baseball player of the week Monday.
The former Herbert Hoover High standout went 6-for-11 with seven runs, two doubles, one triple, one home run and seven RBIs last week against conference foe Cincinnati.
Buckner, who has reached base in 40 straight games, leads the Big East in batting average (.455), hits (35), doubles (10) and is second in total bases (56).
