West Virginia basketball player Kevin Noreen will be a freshman again next year. The Big East Conference has approved a hardship waiver request for the 6-foot-10 center.
Noreen underwent surgery on his right knee to heal a ruptured prepatellar bursa on Jan. 12. The freshman from Minneapolis appeared in seven games this season, averaging 2.6 points and 1.7 rebounds per game. He had a season-high seven points and five rebounds in 14 minutes of action against VMI.
Noreen will have four seasons of eligibility remaining with the Mountaineers.
