Juwan Staten, a guard who started as a freshman last season at Dayton, has decided to transfer to West Virginia.
Staten announced the move on his Twitter account Saturday and then confirmed the decision on Sunday. He had originally been headed to Penn State before that school changed coaches.
Staten is originally from Dayton and played his senior year of high school at Oak Hill Academy. As a freshman at Dayton, he led the Atlantic 10 in assists and made the league's all-rookie team. The 6-foot point guard averaged 8.5 points and 5.4 assists and just over 29 minutes for the Flyers.
He is the second transfer to join the Mountaineers this year and, like LaSalle's Aaric Murray will have to sit out the 2011-12 season before becoming eligible.
