The next team that Aaric Murray officially practices with won't be West Virginia. The transfer from LaSalle now has a summer stop to make first.
Murray, the 6-foot-11 center who will join WVU's basketball team next season, has been selected as one of 22 players to try out for the USA Basketball Men's World University Games team this summer.
The team's training camp will run from July 29 to Aug. 7, at which point a 12-member team will be selected to compete for the United States in the World University Games Aug. 13-23 in China.
Murray is one of six Big East players selected to try out for the team, coached by Purdue's Matt Painter. The others are Tim Abromaitis of Notre Dame, Yancy Gates of Cincinnati, Ashton Gibbs of Pitt, Scoop Jardine of Syracuse and Alex Oriakhi of Connecticut.
Murray signed a letter of intent to attend WVU last month, but will have to sit out the 2011-12 season as a transfer. Should he be selected to the national team he would miss West Virginia's August trip to Italy.
