I ain't skeerd of the SEC! I think the pros outweigh the cons. Like you said Elp the $$$ would be great. I think the level of recruits would increase immediately. A lot of the SEC teams are within a reasonable driving distance for fans, especially the ones in southern WV. After LSU, Florida, Bama and Auburn the conference really isn't that tough and we wouldn't be playing all of them every year. Also we could be near the top of the conference every year in basketball. On the down side we have a legitimate chance of a BCS bowl every year in the BE and could lose the rivalry with Pitt. As far as other options, I would be totally against joining the ACC, which there are rumors of that floating around too. I think that would be a lateral move at best. Obviously the big 12 is in trouble and I think the best thing that could happen is for OU to bolt for the PAC 12 and the BE bring in K State, OK State and Kansas, or even completely merge with the Big 12 to form a Super Conference. That would create an attractive league with probably a little less competition than the SEC. As long as we stay out of the ACC I can deal with anything. I think we have the right man leading our team and feel we can be competitive anywhere.

I get my season tickets from a friend who has had 10 seats for several years, 8 in section 202 and 2 in section 102 on the visitors side. So she gets the tickets last week and all 10 are in 202. Rather pissed off because she had to wait for a few years to get the upgraded seats, she calls the ticket office wanting to know where the lower level seats are. They said they made a mistake and sold those seats to someone else and they had already been mailed out. To correct the mistake, we now have 10 seats in section 122, which is lower level on the Mountaineer side in rows 7 & 8, near the goal line on the hospital end of the field. A nice upgrade from my 202 seats for the same price and not nearly as far of a walk! Gives me at least an additional 15 minutes of tailgating!

On the ESPN Big East chat with Andrea Adelson last week she mentioned something about Holgerson tweeting about the Mountaineer Mantrip. She didn't really give many details, but after some research I found that the team will be doing a walk through the lots to the stadium before home games! I think it's a fantastic idea, and I really like the salute to the coal miners with "mantrip". The blue lot is already insane, I'm sure with this it will be off the charts!!

I went back through several hundred of my posts today looking for a link I posted back in 2008 for a custom jersey site.....I found it, but it appears the site is no longer active. Anyhow, after going through all those posts and reading quite a few of them, I realized I've said some damn funny stuff over the years!!

UCONN falls on the road to USF and WVU wins against Rutgers. The Mountaineers get the BCS bid and play Virginia Tech in the Orange Bowl.

I wonder if Dave pays attention to anything else in college football besides the Big East. Notre Dame is 7-5 and will take the BE #2 spot in the Champs Sports Bowl, which they can do because they're "Notre Dame." The Orange has the pick before the Fiesta and would be out of their mind to take Stanford (and hope people will travel clear across the country) over the BE champ. If UCONN gets the BCS bid we're going to the Muffler Bowl.

I was chalking up the Syracuse loss as the one we seem to lose every year that we should have won. The loss at UCONN made me open my eyes and jump off the Stew bandwagon. He's a great guy and a great role model for the kids but not HC material. I never really thought he was but I thought he had surrounded himself with a good staff that could pick up the slack. Apparently I was wrong, other than Casteel and Beatty. Three losses already with an excellent defense is not good. The way things are looking in the BE right now I can see us finishing 6-6, assuming a win against Rutgers. With all the starters we will lose I cringe at the thought of next year with the current staff in place, a bad year will be easier to swallow with a new crew in Morgantown. Obviously I would love to see a turnaround and finish 10-3, but that's a double edged sword....how can you fire a coach with 10 wins? Or even 9 for that matter. Regardless of how we finish we're set up for disaster next year if a change isn't made.
With that said and December right around the corner, who would be on your Christmas list for a potential new HC? Top of my list would be Mark Helfrich the Oregon OC. High friggin powered offense at Oregon, did the same as a QB coach at Arizona State a few years ago, huge passing attack!! Was also a QB coach at Boise State and Colorado.
I've done my best to not be negative on here over the years, but I really can't help it now.

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - Former five star recruit Justin Turner has packed his bags and is headed for Morgantown. The gifted cornerback is just over a week removed from getting his release from a scholarship at Michigan.
Ray Jeske, of ESPN 990 in Massillon, Ohio, is the voice of the Massillon Tigers football team and Thursday morning he hosted Tigers head coach Jason Hall on his radio show. Hall said after some deliberation, Turner had finally come to him with good news on Wednesday - he would be joining Bill Stewart and the WVU Mountaineers.
“What you’re going to get in West Virginia is a good kid who’s a monster talent,” says Jeske. “He’s a good kid. This waiving one school is not a reflection that he’s not. He’s an outstanding young man who wants to please the right people doing thing the right way. [He has] a great family. You’re going to be very happy with Justin Turner.”
Jeske has known Turner “since he was in his mother’s womb,’ and has kept in touch throughout his young life. They last spoke in June and if you ask Jeske, there was not the slightest indication that Turner was at all unhappy where he was.
“I talked to Justin on June the 19th and he was thrilled with everything going on at Michigan,” says Jeske. “He was so happy and said he’s playing with the ones coming out of spring practice and expects to start this year at corner, which was a shock because he’s huge.” Listed at 6-foot-2, 198 pounds, Turner is pushing the limits of the prototypical cornerback size. Jeske is certain that Turner will eventually be a safety. Some publications have even suggested that his size is what lost his the starting position, and eventually made him feel that it was not a situation he felt happy with.
Jeske admits he doesn’t know the exact reason Turner left Michigan, but in speaking with a Massillon booster who is also close to the Wolverines program, he believes he has pieced it together.
“He was just disappointed, felt he should have been starting. I think, perhaps, maybe he felt like he had been told so, because he was so clear on June 19th that it was his understanding that it was his job,” he says. “I think he thought, ‘I’m not going to burn a year of eligibility some place where I’m not happy and I don’t trust the direction of the team in terms of my role in it.’”
In coming to West Virginia, Turner would sit out for the 2010 season and begin practicing the following spring. He would then have three years of eligibility remaining.
Turner was rated a five star talent out of Massillon, and Jeske’s assessment of the defender’s talents do nothing to downplay his rating. As far as Jeske is concerned, when Turner gets on the field in the BIG EAST, the conference won’t know what hit it.
“Justin is going to be a player. He’s going to be one of the best – as good as you’ve ever had in that secondary. I’ll go on record guessing that, expecting that. He’s going to play on Sundays. He’s just too gifted.”
At the start of his prep career, Turner had a reputation as more of a finesse corner, light on his feet and capable of making plays all across the field. Then something changed in his game, and Turner was suddenly known as much for his thunderous hits as his agility.
“Some switch got thrown late in his senior year, an opening first play of the game hit on a rival Canton McKinley player, they’re still sweeping that kid up.”
Jeske is tickled by the thought of Turner sharing a sideline with WVU freshman Jewone Snow, who attended rival high school McKinley.
“The thought of those two kids carpooling together is a scream to me. I can’t wait to see that happen,” he laughs.
